Welcome!

Hello! I am currently working as a Biological Administrator with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Aquaculture.* Working out of the state capital, I am engaged in a wide variety of exciting projects, and travel throughout the state to learn about regulation and policy for Florida’s second-largest economic driver – agriculture. All of my work is grounded in a strong sense of environmental sustainability, social and economic equity, and using the best available science in regulatory and policy decision making. My previous role with FDACS was as a Gulf Research Program Science Policy Fellow.

I was recently featured by the National Science Policy Network and had two op-eds published in the Tallahassee Democrat and the Tampa Bay Times, inspired by my time working in science policy in Florida’s capital and after witnessing the degradation of science during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In March 2020, I started a local chapter, called a pod, of 500 Women Scientists in Tallahassee. 500 Women Scientists is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to equity, inclusion and representation in science and fighting racism, patriarchy and oppressive social norms. You can learn more about the pod and how to get involved by going to the Tallahassee pod website.

This site highlights some of my professional activities and service, contains my CV, and general marine science, conservation, and policy topics I’m interested in. More information on many of the groups and universities I have been or am currently involved with can be found on the Links page.
